BMW S 1000 RR
Ride Modes
On the new S 1000 RR, the rider has the choice of various ride modes to cater for a change in riding situations such as wet or dry road surfaces. Whenever the "mode" button is activated, the display screen in the instrument cluster will alternate from "Rain" to "Sport" to "Race" and to "Slick". Each of the different settings represents a change in overall performance of the motorcycle.
Rain
This mode reduces the available horsepower and torque when riding on wet tarmac.
Sport
This mode will enable full engine power in conjunction with a more spontaneous throttle response.
Race
This mode was developed for track day use with street legal tires. Full engine power is available with a more dynamic throttle response.
Slick
This mode is only to be used with slick or treadless racing tires on a closed course facility. It can on be activated if the power plug is installed to the wiring harness.
Dynamic Traction Control
The new Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) system provides valuable support to supersport riders of all skill levels. DTC prevents undesirable spinning of the rear wheel during acceleration by comparing speed values from the front and rear wheel via the Race ABS sensors. A banking angle sensor also provides data to the system that will allow the electronics to detect wheel spin and trigger a reduction in engine power by backing off the ignition.

Both the Dynamic Traction Control and race ABS can be deactivated by pressing the system button on the left handlebar controls. The DTC system works in conjunction with the new Race ABS, and are available as options on the S 1000 RR.
